The semester is over! Well, it ended for me over the weekend after I took a online optional final for a class. The semester tally of grades will not be officially known until as early as Monday night.
It has been a really rough semester academically. The Multimedia Editor position at the Alligator was more work than expected, and it definitely was a grade dropper. I might get out with barely a 3.0 for the term…and that’s an optimistic outlook. The best class might be Advanced Photojournalism 1 and I expect, at the lowest, a “B” or as high as a “B+.” The worst class is probably Ethics. I bombed the first test, did well on the big class project, but the cliffhanger is the final test. Did I do any better on the second than the first? If so, will it help? I guess I shall find out in as little as four days.
I spent some of my free time this week on revamping my website (http://www.daweathaman-journalist.com). I had some issues with IE shifting the large photo to the right of the logo, but it looked perfect on Safari and Firefox. This is more of a reason why the makers of IE should be sent to hell. However, with some XHTML tweaking, I was able to make it work for all three browsers. So, it’s up and so far the reviews have been good. Check it out and let me know what you think (also, let me know if there are any more bugs).
I spent today getting getting graduation photos of a friend. Some of those should be posted on the blog and/or Flickr in the near future.
Also in the coming days on this blog: What lies next? With the sour journalism job market and only slight improvements in my work with no internships for the summer, should I stay or prepare for plan B?
