I finally joined the crowd and got a twitter account. I will try my best to post comments when possible. Now, lets see if this will work.

Despite a nearly 45-day absence from my blog that I have maintained since November 2002, I am still alive and doing well. With the end of Summer B, a much needed vacation with the completion of moving into a new apartment with Erin and the start of the Fall 2007 term, life has been extremely busy.
I started my third semester at the University of Florida August 23. I also started my job as Photo Editor at the Alligator. Every day since then, I have been waking up every morning by hitting the ground running. With the responsibility of running the photo section of one of the largest student-run newspapers in the nation, it can be a little overwhelming at times. Then again, it is something I want to do.
My classes have been okay, so far. Hurricanes (MET 4532) is interesting, but is a little project heavy. So is Fact Finding (JOU 3110). In that core journalism class, you are taught how to search public records and information. A major final project is required (as well as a book report…which i need to start reading). Extreme Weather (GEO 2242) is okay. Right now, we are covering the basics of meteorology, so I am a little bored right now. But with Specialized Photojournalism (JOU 4603), I am always on my toes. This is another project heavy course with studio assignments due nearly every week. A midterm and final project with the creation of audio sideshows is also required.
So, you can probably see why I have not made a lot of posts. UF and the Alligator have kept me from having just a few minutes on the computer with the desire to write something.
On the main site – www.daweathaman-journalist.com – you might have seen the graphic about a change in the site. This will be a slow process since I will be pretty loaded this semester. This blog for now on will basically be a photo blog. At times, I might spew some random comments about life, news, etc. For now, I will stick to photos and will start posting things here online.
I will be covering the UF vs. Tennessee game Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. I will post some photos here when I get the chance.
Changes are coming to the blog…slowly…but stay tuned.

Just below the weather blogroll on the side, you will see a new blogroll. The newly created photo/photojournalism/journalism blogroll has been added. You will see mostly photo blogs from people I know who contribute or have contributed to the Alligator. All of these people have kick-ass photos, so check it out.
By the way, if I know you and you have a photo blog, please let me know so I can add you.

I got an email from someone who writes for a blog called Reality Check. It’s a blog that "tracks presidential contestant’s
statements
on a variety of issues and contrasts it with what they have said in the
past,
in other words, checking consistency."
I checked it out and it seems like a cool blog. Politicians can flip and flop at times and this is the blog that monitors those. The blog has been added to the Political Blogroll on the right side of the page. Check them out: http://realitycheck08.wordpress.com/.

Due to a highly inflamed comment riddled with accusations – which could be grounds for libel – on an old post on this blog, I have added new rules on the ethics and guidelines and deleted the post. I figured it was not a good idea to leave it on there.
For the updated standards, please check out the page by clicking here.
